Artists in Schools
Grant Program
(Local Capacity Building Grant Initiative)

-Funding for an artist residency in your school-

NYSAAE is committed to encouraging greater use of the arts and artist residencies in schools to support non-arts curriculum areas.

The Artists in Schools regrant program sponsors innovative artist residencies in elementary, middle and high schools throughout Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Fulton, Montgomery, and Schoharie Counties.

This program supports partnerships between schools and teaching artists or cultural organizations that integrate the arts with non-arts subjects. Grants from $500-$2500 are available to match funds from your school, district, PTA/PTO and other sources.

This program is made possible with public funds from the Local Capacity Building Initiative, a regrant program of the Arts in Education Program of the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), a State Agency.

NYSAAE has been appointed by the New York State Council on the Arts to distribute more than $19,000 to schools in support of artist residencies.

If your school is not located in one of these counties, click here to locate your AIE-LCB site.  Schools may apply annually for artist residency grants.

Looking for a teaching artist or a cultural organization to collaborate with?

BOCES offers a resource directory of area artists and presenters who have expressed an interest in working with students in an educational setting.  Click HERE to view their database.

BOCES has also put together a very informative BOCES AIE How-To PowerPoint presentation outlining some of the services they offer. BOCES aid is a great way for schools to come up with the match requirement for the LCB Budget!
